I really like this mist thing so I'm looking forward to the story, tho w EU/EW and 2 I kinda just went with the flow, I enjoy the strategic gameplay but didn't really care for the story. Yeah I never liked this genre but Xcom EU really hooked me, been playing xcom2 for 6 years lol you dont get as attached to the chars in PP as you do in wastelands, in fact, i dont think i get attached to PP soliders as much as im like, all that wasted resources spent on that guy is now gone. wasteland 3 broke my heart, i was SOOO hypoed for it, i ordered it through xbox live and had to return it cause the game just wasnt playable on release.

If you dont go too high on difficulty, you usually wont need to save load, but do expect to restart /reload a few times before you trial and error some mechanics, the ingame encyclopedia is useless, i cant remember how useful the xcom ones were though. it does give you a lot more freedom than xcom gives, but PP has more 'you will lose a lot of the map and you cant erase the damage ' ironically the ending gives you one of a handful very narrow paths. i loved the bradfords 'commander' line or the chinatown dlc, theres just nothing chilling or immersive like that in PP, you have to enjoy the straegiic grind to scrape by. personally, unfortuantely, i think PP forces you to focus too much on resource management, the urgency just doesnt feel as immersive to me. this game doesnt have the wealth of info like the xcom community does with guides, there are some wikis out there but only like one or two sources. I dont think crashes are frequent, i think the complaints are the mechanics of some specific pieces of the game, like a dlc intruced a torturous boss enemy and some of the tutorials for the dlc stuff left even me a veteran confuzzled. it is a solid game and there are sales that happen if you want to test it out on the cheap. PP (phoneix point) has some interesting ideas, but the cutscenes are stationary images, the voices are ok but not spectacular.

Im on pc so i cant comment on if there is any differences., on pc theres occasionally some bugs, i think bugs happen very rarely right now, its moreso of bad directions and guidance of new gameplay mechanics. those older games were before my time, i like this genre, but i dont like it THAT much to play 8bit games. that is why they call THAT old old game as xcom and not the new ones). phoenix point doesnt have the special effects that xcom (we call it firaxcom,after the 'modern xcom producer dev team firaxis' cause some of the purist consider xcom (the old grainy 8bit-like graphics) (that the creator jullian is why a lot of people backed this PP project in the first place. I love xcom, and i loved wasteland 1 and 2 (PP graphics and cuscenes are more W1 than they are xcom), i refunded wasteland three when launch was so buggy. the story is good first time around, its sorta novel, but it introduces new pieces of gameplay mechanics and enemies, but i personally felt too bogged down by trade route ferry commander more than savior of earth. PP focuses a lot more on resource management and you will feel stretched thin a lot, and the directions arent as intuitive as firaxocom.

if you dont like the genre but like firaxcom's immersion, id wait for a good deal to try it out or watch gameplay online.
